Air Quality Alert days are when the EPA determines that the quantity of ozone found at ground level poses a health threat. When this happens you are better off spending at least part of the day in a conditioned space. Air quality gets worse through out the course of most AQA days and tends to get better after 7 pm. Check out Air Now for the latest forecasts. On these days you can keep cool save money and energy by hanging out in local public buildings that are air conditioned. My personal favorite? The library. Air Quality Alert Days are also a terrific reminder to reduce driving, reevaluate habits that cause unnecessary emissions and to get to know your community in a cool public place.
