Last Thursday, December 8, 2011, Eastchester’s Environmental Committee presented the 2nd Annual Eastchester Green Medallion Awards. This year's recipients are Polpettina Restaurant, Anne Hutchinson School’s Dave O’Neil and Eastchester Boy Scout Troop #353. Assemblywoman Amy Paulin’s office bestowed official citations on each of the recipients.

This year’s winners initiated activities like extensive recycling and use of recycled materials, alternative energy use and education, promotion of composting and organic gardening, pollution prevention, waste reduction, protection or enhancement of the natural environment, organizing cleanups of litter or debris, storm water mitigation, environmental education or increasing awareness of environmental alternatives. The Green Medallion recipients will be held as examples for their peers in their various fields of conduct.
