water quality act

lakeFrom Greensulate:   Congresswoman Donna Edwards, and Senator Tom Udall recently introduced the “Green Infrastructure for Clean Water Act of 2011″, which would allow “states, localities and other qualified entities to receive grants to plan, design, and implement green infrastructure projects that will address storm water management and other water quality and quantity issues.”     This plan includes 3 Centers of Excellence for Green Infrastructure across the US which would provide assistance to state and local governments as well as conducting research on storm water, sewer overflow reduction and other methods of dealing with urban runoff.  Currently the bill is awaiting further action.

This would be a great thing for the green roofing industry as we now know green roofs to be one of the most effective ways to deal with storm water runoff.  We hope to see this bill passed into law soon!
