Janet is a painter and freelance graphic artist. Previously, she had a decade-long career as Executive Director of Schoharie County Arts Council. She studied drawing, painting, printmaking, and calligraphy at the High School of Music & Art, The Cooper Union, and Hunter College in New York City, earning a BFA. She has lived in the southern Adirondacks for 2 decades, where she enjoys painting with oils on location. She has also painted various views of the northern Catskill region including views from Preston Hollow and Middleburgh “The challenge of painting outdoors is addictive. It involves intense concentration. When I successfully focus on the crucial elements of a composition, I arrive at a serene
perception of being part of a brief episode in time. While recording my impressions, sunlight moves, the temperature drops, wind sculpts the sky in a spectrum of colors.”
Come to the Catskills in September and October! Janet will be showing her plein air paintings of the Catskills and Adirondacks in a beautiful setting and a glorious time of year. She looks forward to welcoming old and new friends. The exhibit runs August 28 through October 27 Please note: when planning to visit the exhibit, please call ahead to ensure accessibility to the conference room 518-622-9820 x0.
