Very exciting opportunity:
The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (NYS DEC) Hudson River Estuary Program, in partnership with the NYS DEC Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve are soliciting proposals to design a “Sustainable Shorelines” demonstration project at the Nyack Beach State Park in Upper Nyack, New York.
Their looking for “ecologically-enhanced, engineered” shoreline treatment(s) that resist erosion, enhance the intended use of the site by the public and improve the habitat value of the site for fish and wildlife species of the Hudson River Estuary.
Your project design should address present day conditions and account for projected increase in frequency of extreme storms and sea level rise. Get ready for Task Force meetings as the design process will require involvement of lots of stakeholders including:
New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP)
NYSDEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program
Sustainable Shorelines Project team and
state and federal regulatory staff.
